It’s that time of year as you are driving down the freeways, you will see folks in their campers, hauling 5th wheels or packed in SUV’s or even small vehicles, loaded with camping equipment. It’s pretty obvious where they are headed.

If you are like me, your imagination will run wild. “I wonder where they are headed?” “Will they be safe with their campfires?” Being in California or any western state during the summer, there is always a concern.

I used to tent camp quite a bit. There are so many places to do so in this beautiful state, as I’m certain there are no matter where you live.

There were many times I landed in my reserved camp spot and realized I wasn’t as prepared as I thought. Important items I’d forgotten to bring. Stuck. No store for miles. Never good.

We are creatures of, “I’m sure I have everything I need. I mean, I know what I’m doing, been there done that.” Right? Ha!

It’s kind of the same thing in life. You think you are prepared for whatever comes your way. You may say, “I’ve got this.” Or, “I don’t need help, I can go it alone.”

But do you really have it, and can you really go it alone?

The Bible tells us, we are never alone. God is always right there. As a matter of fact, He goes before us, making our path. He’s preparing our day, even before we wake to a new sunrise.

Starting your day in prayer and intimate conversation with God, will make a huge difference in how you go about the activities set before you. If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to do so. You will never be disappointed in how you feel afterwards. Your plans may not work out the way you’d hope, but they will work out per His plans…and they are most certain the best for you, if He is involved.

So, for those who camp, I am enclosing this checklist (below) I created years ago, (updated with today’s items). Maybe you won’t be caught as unprepared as I once was.
